FIRE With Kids
In case you missed it, I was featured on one of my favourite FIRE blogs, Rich Frugal Life! Kristen (aka Mrs. RFL) is the blogger behind this fantastic blog, and she recently started a new interview series that focuses on families in the FIRE community.
When I heard about this series, I told Kristen I was in! As you know, I love spreading the word about FIRE! Even more, I love showing other parents that it’s very much possible to reach FIRE—even if you have kids.
I’ll share a little bit about Kirsten, her family and her blog below. But if you’d like to jump straight to the interview, here’s the link: FIRE With Kids Interview #2: Chrissy (Eat Sleep Breathe FI).
About Kristen
I can’t remember exactly when or how I met Kristen, but I do remember being instantly hooked when I first found her blog. Her FIRE journey, life situation, and approach to FIRE and money are so similar to mine—she and I remark on our many similarities all the time!
Here are just some of the things we have in common:
- She’s also a stay-at-home mom.
- She chose to be a stay-at-home mom for the same benefits that we also prioritized.
- She’s also reached FI!
- She’s very much focused on living a happy, satisfying life throughout the journey to FI.
- She also thought that traditional retirement was the only option.
- She’s frugal, but will spend on things she and her family value.
One of my favourite things about blogging is being able to meet other like-minded people like Kristen. As mainstream as FIRE’s becoming, it’s still kind of a fringe thing. For me, it’s comforting to know there are others out there who get our outside-the-box lifestyle!
About Rich Frugal Life
At Rich Frugal Life, Kristen shares how she and her family are living their best FI life. She writes about a wide variety of FIRE-related topics including budgeting, parenting, investing, money mindset, and so much more.
If you haven’t checked out Rich Frugal Life yet, I highly recommend that you do. You may just discover (as I did) that it’s a a treasure trove of interesting, useful articles and very binge-worthy!
FIRE With Kids Interview series
At Rich Frugal Life, Kristen just started her new FIRE With Kids interview series. In the series, she’ll be featuring families who (1) are pursuing financial independence (with or without early retirement); and (2) have kids and/or other dependents, or are planning to have kids.
Kristen kicked off the series by interviewing herself. I was honoured to be the second interview to be featured! If you’re interested in joining the series, you can find more details in this intro post on Rich Frugal Life.
I know I’ve done lots of interviews in the past, so you probably feel you already know plenty about me. But even some of my oldest followers have said they discovered new things in this interview, so I hope you’ll check it out! 😉
