I’m baaack!

Happy New Year everyone! How were your holidays? My family and I had a lovely, quiet couple of weeks off… and now I’m ready to get back to regular blogging. 🙂

I’ll return next week with new blog content, but today I’m sharing an interview I did with my good friend Court over at her blog, Modern FImily

I’ll share a little bit about Court, her family and her blog below. But if you’d like to jump straight to the interview, here’s the link: FIRE Community Guest Interview #12—Proving Financial Independence Is Possible with Kids in a High Cost Of Living Area).

About Court

Court, Finn and Nic

I’m betting that most of my readers already know Court. (After all, she’s been featured on just about every FIRE blog and podcast—including mine!) For those who haven’t had the pleasure to ‘meet’ Court yet, here’s a little intro:

An intro to Court and her family

Court and her wife Nic live in Southern Alberta with their adorable daughter Finn. Court is an energy trader and Nic is, like me, a stay-at-home mom. They constantly amaze me with their frugality and optimization skills.

Some may find it hard to believe, but Court and Nic spend less than $20,000 per year on their core expenses (which doesn’t include travel, investments or mortgage). And yet, they live a very full and happy life, with absolutely no deprivation—as evidenced on her Instagram feed!

Court and Nic prove that it’s definitely possible to reach FIRE at a young age, with a kid, on one income. (Sound familiar? 😉)

About Modern FImily

At Modern FImily, Court shares all her FIRE numbers, plans, and tactics. (Unlike me, she doesn’t hide any of her numbers!) Court is a numbers nerd and way better with math and complex calculations than I am.

If you haven’t checked out Modern FImily yet, I highly recommend that you do. You’ll find a wealth of detailed, helpful posts to inspire and motivate you on your path to FIRE. 🔥

FIRE Community Interview series

At Modern FImily, Court features a monthly FIRE Community Interview series. In the series, she interviews bloggers and non-bloggers, highlighting their unique paths and tactics as they journey towards FIRE.

I was honoured when Court invited me to do an interview for her… and am thrilled that it’s finally live! In the interview, I share a lot more about our numbers and FIRE plans than I normally do here. (Court asked some detailed questions—it took me weeks to answer them all!)

I hope you enjoy the interview and that you’ll stick around Court’s blog to read some of her other excellent content.

Wonderful interview, Chrissy! Love your focus and attention to detail on your FI journey. I agree that trading a salary to be a stay-at-home mom “doesn’t feel like a sacrifice to us, but it’s actually given us a fuller, happier life.”

Thanks to you and Court for a great read 🙂

Hi Ana—thanks for reading my interview, even though I’m sure you’ve read other interviews of mine before! I couldn’t agree more, that the sacrifice in income to be a SAHM has been worth it in so many priceless ways.
